CorporateHealth and Partners win government funding for Capsule Endoscopy delivery at SCale through enhanced AI anaLysis (CESCAIL)

How can AI reduce the time it takes to analyse the images from a capsule endoscopy?
Our project is one of the 38 winners of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health and Care Award to answer that question by building and clinically testing an AI system.
The AI Award is making £140 million available over four years to accelerate testing of AI technologies, meetings the aims set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, with which we are very much aligned.
We will be using the award to make our current prototypes production ready, creating a Software-as-a-Medical Device which we will then clinically validate with expertise from:
world-class experts from NHS University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire, with support from the University of Warwick.
In addition, renowned scientists from the University of Barcelona continue to develop machine learning algorithms with critical clinical advice from NHS Highland, whilst
NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit assist the pathway adaptation
CorporateHealth has the overall lead and rapidly makes the innovation accessible to patients in the NHS and across the northern hemisphere through its managed service, ultimately reducing the time it takes clinicians to analyse capsule endoscopy videos by up to 80%
CESCAIL is a fascinating project, following up on the Innovate UK-funded project ‘AID-GI.,’ which brings capsule endoscopy closer to widespread integration in the NHS. We look forward to sharing more information with you in the coming weeks.
